Citrine Insight: Take the Vacation

Wellness or Work, Why Choose?
While I love to travel, I hate to fly. There is nothing I enjoy about it. Until I can fly business class, I cannot see that changing. However, there was one thing I used to love: the disconnection. I was genuinely disconnected for however long the flight was, but now Wifi is on plans. I refuse to get it. I want to unplug; as a classic overthinker, it is one of the few times I can.
Summer is around the corner; for many, it can be the perfect excuse to focus on bringing more wellness into our lives and allow us to unplug from day-to-day responsibilities, especially those at work. Here are three ideas to support wellness at work this summer:
Outdoor Team Activities:
Organize outdoor team-building activities like picnics, sports days, or hiking trips. These activities not only provide a break from the office environment but also help strengthen team bonds.
Flexible Work Schedules:
Implementing flexible work schedules or summer hours empowers employees to enjoy longer weekends or afternoons off, providing a much-needed break. This freedom can help employees feel more refreshed and motivated when they are at work.
Encouraging Vacations:
Encourage employees to take their well-deserved vacation days and fully disconnect from work. By providing support to ensure smooth coverage during their absence, we show our commitment to their well-being, allowing them to relax without worrying about work piling up.
Creating an effective team is about what you do as a team and what you don’t do. Finding ways to move focus from work to our wellness is a great way to shift the focus to something positive.
